Personally, i think Epic want to capitalise on their fortnite player base and hope that they can build enough of a following there, which I believe is fine since its exactly how steam started with valve requiring steam for half life 2. There may be malicious actors among them but i don't have the time or effort to do detective work to find out. I don't believe that sharing an opinion in a neutral space is astroturfing just because it may go against current popular opinion. Lets face it, theres reasons why some people are for or against competing stores. Yeah, their rates are better but that's mostly because their platform is bald in comparison to Steam. The "Epic Store" or how some people called it "The Steam Killer" is shit. It will take Epic as a company how much time to properly implement all of this? (Judging strictly based on how slow adoption of certain basic features in their Fortnite game on mobile platforms actually is) 2-3 years? And to be remotely relevant it will take another 1-2 years of community work.

They have a full forum for each game, a full community and a market place just to begin with. It's infuriating the more you think about it when you see how many more features Steam as a platform has and offers.
Steam's overlay allows you to chat with friends both verbally and written, allows you to broadcast to friends, allows you to surf the web & it's own marketplace and it even allows you to see your in game framerate.
Epic Games Launcher is nothing but a game launcher/store at best.
I mean, Steam brings functionality in the game that uses it's overlay.
